I wasn't going to watch the celebration on television, but my mother convinced me that it was a good idea to watch it. I was glad I did, because I enjoyed listening to President Obama's speech and the parade. My favorite part was watching the bands and different groups from around the United States.
I did wish the kids were wearing their hats. It seemed awfully cold to me to not have a hat on. And I thought the First Lady might be cold too. I would imagine she might have been wearing silk undergarments to help keep her warm. I know one point in time somebody gave her hand warmers to put into her gloves.
I would guess they had so much energy they were ready to go all day long. I do wonder if the children went to school today. They probably had a fun time telling their teachers and classmates what happened and what it was like to sleep in a new house.
I wish them all of the best and I look forward to reading and listening to what the family does in the future.

What are my thoughts for the new president?
Dear Lord,
Thank you for the sunny skies and temperatures that were not too cold as the United States of America welcomes their new president. I ask you to be with President Obama and his family as they move forward into their new life. Be with them and guide them as a strong family. Guide Miss Malia Obama and Miss Sasha Obama as they go to school and meet new children. Help First Lady Michelle Obama be a strong mother and wife so she may support her family when they need it. Guide President Obama as he makes new and difficult decisions. Help him to guide the United States of America as the founding fathers did. I will leave you with this verse about wisdom from Proverbs 8:30; "Then I was by him, as one brought up with him: and I was daily his delight, rejoicing always before him."
Amen

What is Your most Memorable New Year's Celebration?
Now that we are into the new year, let's reminisce and decide what our most memorable New Year's was.
My most memorable New Year's celebration was when I was married December 31, 1999/January 1, 2000. We started the wedding at 11:30 p.m. and we kissed at 12:00 a.m. I was wearing a beautiful white dress and the bridesmaids were wearing green dresses they made themselves. The flowers were a beautiful red and white. We had a reception at a local restaurant after the wedding. It was then off to the hotel and our honeymoon in Southwestern United States.
I think about our wedding almost every day. It was such a magical time and I am so grateful my husband chose me. When I look at him I think of all of the wonderful times we have had together and how he supports me.
I am so glad I have a wonderful New Year's memory, my wedding.

Write a poem about food choices in the United States of America
Children in the United States can eat many different kinds of food. The children in this poem want the food they are currently crazy about.
A will only eat Apples,
B, bananas.
C loves vitamins from Carrots,
D makes bread from Dates.
E dives into Eggplant,
F swims like the Fish he eats.
G stuffs her face with Grapes and
H for every meal eats Ham.
I loves a dish of Ice cream, not a cone.
J puts Jalapenos on his tacos.
K peels her Kiwi,
L has Italian dressing on her Lettuce.
M warms his Milk to drink it.
N boils his noodles,
O goes to Florida to get Oranges.
P pours cream on her Peaches,
Q hunts for Quail,
R takes a handful of Raisins.
S makes Squash pies,
T fishes for Trout in streams.
U bakes an Upside-down cake.
V eats Veal,
W spits seeds from Watermelon.
X needs an X-ray from the food he ate,
Y has Yogurt for breakfast every day.
Z fries Zucchini.

What do you take when you have to evacuate?
Oh, no I have ten minutes to evacuate my house forever. What am I going to take with my. I am so glad that my family and pets are safe. I know I am going to grab the two laptops and the hard drives. I am not going to lose the pictures I have taken of my children. I am also going to make sure that I get my camera. The last things I would grab are several books that are not replaceable and the small safe, which holds our important documents. I do not want to have to replace social security cards and other things like that. I would ask the children to quickly think of something that was of importance of them that they would like to continue to have. I would not try to grab anything else, because other things are materialistic. As long as I have my family and pets, everything else can be replaced.
I think that everybody needs to think of the things they would take with them, because with all the floods and fires that are taking place in the United States they need to be prepared.

Voting
Today is the day to vote. I hope that everybody that can does or has. This is a right that many of us have not had for very long in the United States. Younger people today may forget that it was just in the last century that women did not have the same rights they do now. I have been voting for many years. I can still remember my first time. It was out in the country and I went with my parents. It was a warm summer afternoon as we walked into the building. Those I saw I had known all my life and they greeted me with a warm smile, as they knew it was going to be my first time voting. I remember filling out the card saying who I was and what my party affiliation was going to be. I then took my card into the booth and punched holes in the card. When I had finished voting I took my ballot and stuck it in the box. I was very proud that I had exercised my right to vote. I look back on that time with fond memories, because people no longer vote there.
