- Write down the occasion, date, time and place. Add a map if necessary.
- Note if refreshments will be served and if an RSVP is needed. You can include a phone number for your RSVP or a self-addressed stamped envelope.
- Do not use abbreviations or contractions.
- Express you are glad to see the person arriving
- Mention an arriving time and a serving time if there is dinner.
- If you do not want gifts, mention that.
- Make sure invitations are sent in plenty of time, especially if the guests are from out of town.
If you are having a speaker, you should give them the following information in their invitation:
- type of audience
- Kind of speech, how long it should be and topic
- any accommodations that will be made
- Contact person and their information
