How to write a personal letter- Invitation

I am sure you all know how to write an invitation, but here are some quick guidelines so nothing is forgotten. And above all remember to proofread.

  • Write down the occasion, date, time and place. Add a map if necessary.
  • Note if refreshments will be served and if an RSVP is needed. You can include a phone number for your RSVP or a self-addressed stamped envelope.
  • Do not use abbreviations or contractions.
  • Express you are glad to see the person arriving
  • Mention an arriving time and a serving time if there is dinner.
  • If you do not want gifts, mention that.
  • Make sure invitations are sent in plenty of time, especially if the guests are from out of town.

If you are having a speaker, you should give them the following information in their invitation:

  • type of audience
  • Kind of speech, how long it should be and topic
  • any accommodations that will be made
  • Contact person and their information
