How to write a personal letter- Condolence

Is someone in your life going through a difficult time such as a death in the family, an accident, or loss of a job? If they are you will need to sharpen your skills and learn the best way to write a letter of condolence.

Don’t be over dramatic; a simple sorry usually works, and then mention the person who died or the specific incident. In your letter mention you are always available if needed and be careful with your word choice. When you are proofreading make sure your letter is the type of letter you would like to receive.

Dear Jim,

I was sorry to hear of the loss of your job at XYE Incorporated. I know you really enjoyed your job there. I wish you the best of luck on your job search.

Thank you for inspiring me to do my best and you are always in my prayers.

Love,
Susan

Dear Aunt Jill,

I am sorry to hear that Uncle Larry died. I will always remember the fishing trips we took to Canada in the summer. I hope you are doing well during this difficult time. If you ever need someone to talk to, please call me.

You are always in my prayers.

Love,
Susan

  1. The appropriate way to show your condolence for a death is to express your self that you are concerned and considerate for your feelings. This is warming based from my experience. It is essential that you should know his or her loss and to show that you deeply understand it. Talking helping her out and even pay a visit to the funeral is also great. It is also good to send a card if you are far away to express your words of condolence.
